Mealira is operated by Schuler + Co GmbH. We are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights as a user of the Mealira iOS app.

We collect the following data when you use Mealira: account data (email address, authentication tokens), profile data you provide during onboarding (age, height, weight, dietary preferences, fitness goals, activity level), meal plan data generated for your account, weight entries and progress logs you record in the app, food items scanned via barcode or photographed via camera, Apple Health data (step count, body weight) if you grant permission, and subscription status via RevenueCat.
Your profile and health data is used exclusively to generate and personalise your meal plans. Meal and progress data is used to track your history and improve future plans. Apple Health data is read to display context on your progress screen and is never uploaded to our servers. Subscription data is used to manage access to premium features. We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.
Processing is based on your explicit consent given during onboarding, and on the performance of the contract (providing the service you signed up for). Art. 6(1)(a) and (b) GDPR; nDSG Art. 31.
Mealira requests camera access to enable barcode scanning and meal photo analysis. Camera data is processed in real time and not stored permanently. Apple Health access is optional — you can enable or disable it at any time in the app settings. We only read step count and body weight; we never write to Apple Health.
We use Supabase for data storage (servers in the EU), OpenAI to analyse meal photos and generate meal plans (data is not used to train models under our API agreement), and RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. No data is sold or shared for advertising purposes.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing hello@mealira.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@mealira.com. For EU users, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nDSG). For users in the EU, GDPR applies in addition.
